Samsung Galaxy S6: Koreans want their own graphics solution – Curved

Samsung apparently promotes employees from for known GPU manufacturers, underlining its efforts to fabricate graphics chips in-house. If the ambitious plans of the South Korean company’s rise, a specially developed graphics chip could already in the Samsung Galaxy S6 are used.

Even before the launch of the Galaxy S5 there were rumors that Samsung its own graphics chip will develop. Ultimately, the group decided against it, however, and relied on existing technology from ARM. But apparently, the South Korean smartphone giant will no longer decorate with borrowed plumes and now gets serious when it comes to in-house GPU. How SamMobile reports, Samsung has stepped poached engineers from renowned manufacturers such as Intel GPU, Nvidia or AMD lately. The goal is obviously to continue to manufacture the graphics solution in its own Exynos chip itself in future

The advantages are obvious:. Firstly, Samsung would have more creative freedom and on the other hand, the company would not be dependent on third-party manufacturers . Problems with the availability of components that are purchased by other manufacturers could be avoided. Because of the large group from South Korea also certainly has the resources to implement the plan into action, must be assumed that Samsung really makes future graphics chips in-house. However, whether in fact the Samsung Galaxy S6 or perhaps only the Galaxy Note will be 5 equipped with an in-house graphic unit already, however can not say for sure.
